Parkway Shopping Centre hosted it's 2nd Annual ‘Tastes of the World BBQ Cook Off’ on Saturday 5th June. Barbeque enthusiasts from throughout the mid-west battled it out to be crowned culinary champions. Centre Manager, Roger Beck whose own culinary skills were recently awarded at River Fest, judged 17 teams on day for their efforts in three categories; Chicken, Fish and Beef. Teams were judged based on flavour, texture and presentation.
Chorus/NTL scooped up the top award on the day after receiving the highest overall score. They received first place for their Chicken Dish, while the Flaming Filipino’s team won first place in the Fish category and the team from Abundant Life were awarded first place in Beef category. The Pig n’Porter team were recognised as the most enthusiastic competitors on the day.
Customers to the Parkway also joined in on the fun on the day and enjoyed an array of complimentary food on offer from many different culinary backgrounds including South Africa, America, Thailand and the Philippines. There was also an abundance of entertainment going on throughout the day with music, stilt-walkers, magicians, face-painters and fire eaters.
